Day 1: Visit to Downing Street and Sky's Headquarters
Day 1: Outside Number 10 Downing Street
Gemma: “We got a train at 8am from
Ramsgate to London. We walked to the underground where we got a train to Green
Park. We had a pleasant walk past Buckingham Palace and through the park to
Downing Street. We got to go inside Downing Street which was a privilege. After
we went to Sky News’ headquarters to have a look around and to interview a
woman called Tami [Sky News’ Interviews Editor]. She has worked there for a
long time and we got to ask her questions about her job.”
Tilly: "Today we got a train and also got the underground to Green Park and walked through St James’ Park, and passed Buckingham Palace, seeing a Royal march. We walked through the park until we arrived at Downing Street. We went inside the gate and had photos outside 10 Downing Street. We went for lunch and caught another train to Sky headquarters and visited Sky News, meeting Tami and asking questions. We then watched a live broadcast. Then we had a tour around Sky’s studios… and had photos with Sulley and Mike from Monsters Inc and also the Simpsons. This day was exhausting but it was worth it and I enjoyed it a lot. I feel privileged to have experienced the things I did today”
Outside Buckingham Palace. We had great weather!
Amber: “Firstly we made our way to the centre of London after riding a series of different trains. We arrived at the gates of Downing Street and were greeted by armed policemen and women holding giant guns. We took many photos whilst on the doorstep of the Prime Minister’s front door: number 10. As we were doing so, we were being filmed by some cameramen which was being processed by Sky HQ where we also went later in the day. We learned about all of the people that work behind the scenes of one of the largest news studios. I loved every moment."
